In 2024, we tested 85 products across all major home gym equipment categories. The year saw significant activity in the adjustable dumbbell space (REP's AD-5X launched), continued dominance from Rogue in barbells and racks, and the arrival of Hydrow's wave rower as a genuine Concept2 alternative. 2024 Year in Review

2024 was a year of consolidation in the home gym equipment market. After the pandemic-driven equipment rush of 2020–2021 and the subsequent supply chain normalization in 2022–2023, brands competed more aggressively on price and value rather than introducing radical new product categories.

The notable exception was connected cardio, which saw meaningful software improvements across Peloton, NordicTrack (iFit), and Hydrow. The physical hardware of the best connected machines remained largely unchanged; the differentiation moved to content quality and AI-driven programming recommendations.
